Hotel de Goudfazant
IIconic food in Noord
No-nonsense food, in a fitting industrial atmosphere, under the deceptively traditional name Hotel de Goudfazant. No, it isn’t a hotel. Nor is it – no thanks to its appearances – a garage. It is a restaurant that moved into the first deserted shipping warehouse by the shores of the river IJ in Amsterdam Noord. In this super-trendy area, it belongs to the old guard, yet it is by no means old-fashioned. Amsterdammers love this place. They all line up on the red canteen chairs under an enormous chandelier, looking out on a massive open kitchen. 1200 square meters of raw design AND by the waterfront. Weather allowing, you can postpone your bedtime and hang out at the picnic tables outside. Hotel de Goudfazant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, an international kitchen, a broad selection of wines, and delicious locally-baked bread. It’s not too expensive either. For 3 tenners you have a 3-course meal. To get there, hire a bike or walk from the ferry that arrives at the Zamenhofstraat.
