Pont Neuf
Phenomenal Fries
Your first stop after the ferry to Amsterdam Noord is of course the kiosk of Pont Neuf. World-renowned for the best organic and artisanal fries, made of fresh Dutch potatoes from the Flevopolder. Watch how your potatoes are cut and fried to golden perfection. In vegetable oil, naturally. Combine your ‘pommes frites’ with organic fruit juice, pressed from Dutch orchards. Or order a nice cup of coffee, from Illy, environmentally friendly beans, selected from the best harvests in three continents. While you wait for your delicious treat, have a good conversation with the staff. They truly believe that quality also lies in personal attention. Good to know: the kiosk is named after the famous bridge Pont Neuf that runs over the river Seine in Paris. Until the 18th Century, street vendors sold ‘pommes de terre frites’ the predecessor of the contemporary French fries. They couldn’t have chosen a more suitable name for this phenomenal fries-kiosk along the river IJ and right next to the ferry.
