Epic centre of Amsterdam Noord
Do you enjoy events, good food, dancing and music? Then go to the Tolhuistuin where there is always something happening. Tolhuistuin is the closest you can get to the centre of Amsterdam on the North-side and you’ll find it directly opposite Central Station, immediately after you get off the ferry. Thanks to its location it forms the ‘epic’ centre for many activities in Noord. It is your first acquaintance with Noord. The place where you can get touristic information at TIP Amsterdam Noord and where you rent bikes to discover this beautiful part of Amsterdam. The restaurant of THT is housed in the former canteen of the Royal Shell. Until 2009 this company held its headquarters here, along the shores of the river IJ. The Tolhuistuin got its name from the unspoilt, old and idyllic little park that still is the peacefully beating heart of this site. And yes, it still hides an oasis of calm in this bustling city. Since 2011 Tolhuistuin also functions as a performing arts stage and cultural, artistic and culinary meeting space. There is always something to do; from lectures to music nights, theatre performance or concert (in association with the Amsterdam temple of pop: Paradiso). So do check the calendar!
